"A TRAIN STATION IN A NOWHERE LAND" minute, by Massimo Casavola

The slogan summarizes a bright and precise intuition perfectly coherent with the reality of the place, that proposes the station as the first step of a process capable to trasform the Nowhere Land of today in the new Oldenburg of tomorrow. It is a post-modern way of conceiving environment as a dynamic system in continuous evolution, able to transform itself (but also to preserve its forms, if necessary) in an endless process capable to discover, to express and to continuously update urban identity in space and time. How could we not agree with such noble intents?

Unfortunately (as sometimes it happens) the outcome was not up to the premises. In the final proposal the station vanishes and disappears in a hypo-geo system of equipped spaces, hidden under a park. So the station, that should have been the fulcrum of the whole system, dissolves in an abstract green set, indeterminate and largely unresolved.

But the idea of a railway station in a nowhere land remains one of the best intuitions of the workshop.
