This design has a very good starting point, with an accurate and attentive analysis of the place (the possible connection with other green areas surrounding the project area, the possible location of a new railroad station, the farm buildings to be preserved…) and of the future possibilities, as the suggested new medical school intended to be the major impulse for the local urban development.

The evolution of this project is linked to three main lines of thinking: (1) to combine all means of mobility in one point, (2) to reach maximal flexibility and accessibility, and (3) to give an answer to landscape segmentation. And this finally produced a design which is clear and understandable, but unfortunately rather little developed, giving the impression of the difficulties in this team for fruitful cooperation.

The lack of unity of the different parts of this project is even stretched by the impressively ‘naturalistic’ shape of the train station building. A kind of design – and this is also something to think about – which was better appreciated by the ‘non – architects’ members of the jury.
